Four Seasons Ceases Management of Hotel in
Four Seasons has concluded its management of the
Four Seasons Hotel Damascus.
Four Seasons has managed the hotel, on behalf of
the owner, since it opened in 2005.
The hotel is regarded as one of the very best in
the city and is home to many UN and NGO workers.
While Four Seasons has not given a reason for
its withdrawal from Syria, the move follows recent US sanctions
imposed on prominent Syrian businessman Samer Foz who is believed
to be one of the main owners of the property.
The hotel is expected to remain open, but will
operate under a new name and is no longer part of Four Seasons'
impressive portfolio of luxury hotels.
In July 2011, Steven Howard of
TravelNewsAsia.com had the opportunity to interview the Head Chef
of the famous Al Halabi Restaurant at the Four Seasons Hotel
Damascus, Mr. Mohamad Helal and his Assistant Chef - Mr. Mohamad
Moussa, to ask them what Syrian, and in particular Aleppean,
cuisine is all about. You can
