The Strand Yangon to Open New Swimming Pool and Terrace

The Strand Yangon has unveiled details of the final stage of an 18-month project to regain its place as one of South East Asia’s leading hotels and, at the same time, become Myanmar’s first luxury urban resort.

In November 2017, the 31-room hotel will open a new outdoor swimming pool, dining terrace, therapy rooms, gym and a private garden.

Following the complete renovation and upgrade of the hotel’s original 1901 building in 2016, this latest chapter in the storied hotel’s history will see the addition of a new 18m by 8m infinity edge swimming pool.

A teak wood terrace will edge the pool, offering space for 35 loungers, as well as four private pool cabanas and tables for al fresco all-day dining for up to 48 guests.

To one side of the pool will be a gym and wellness area with two 25m2 therapy rooms, both designed for single or couple’s spa treatments.

A new 800 sqm private garden, with secluded seating areas shaded by leafy palms and fragranced by native flora, complete this haven of tranquility.

“The Strand Yangon sits amid the splendor of colonial downtown Yangon, at the heart of this vibrant and ever-changing city. It was important that we continue move with the times and create a new space at the hotel to meet the needs of modern travellers, offering a perfect balance of areas for social gatherings as well as quieter spots for seclusion seekers,” said Olivier Trinquand, Vice President, The Strand Hotel & Cruise.“We are lucky at the Strand to have great foundations upon which to build – a prime location, a rich heritage, beautiful architecture and a reputation for service that has kept explorers and adventurers coming through our doors since 1901. The addition of this new pool terrace, wellness rooms and garden area, alongside last year’s meticulous restoration of the original hotel building, means that The Strand Yangon is destined to become Myanmar’s first luxury urban resort.”

To celebrate the opening of the new facilities, The Strand Yangon has launched a Swimming Pool Indulgence package, whereby guests booking a Superior, Deluxe or Executive suite for stays between 1 December 2017 and 28 February 2018 will receive a US$50 credit per day for use within the hotel’s food & beverage outlets, one complimentary massage per person during their stay, and two cocktails daily by the pool. Superior Suites at The Strand Yangon are priced from US$585 per room per night on a bed and breakfast basis. Offer is subject to availability and black out dates apply.
