Crowne Plaza Changi Airport Hotel Opens 243-Room Extension

One of the world’s nicest airport hotels, the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport in Singapore has increased its total capacity by over 75% with the opening of a 10-floor extension.

Designed by Singapore-based architectural firm WOHA, the company that also designed the main building, the extension was developed by OUE Limited using Prefabricated Prefinished Volumetric Construction (PPVC) techniques – a first for a private-sector commercial project in Singapore.

The extension features 243 Business Rooms and brings the hotel’s total capacity to 563 rooms.

There are two room categories in the new extension – Business King (28sqm) and Business Twin (38sqm).

Both room categories are smoke-free and feature: in-built USB charging ports, complimentary wireless internet, spacious writing desk with a Herman Miller ergonomic swivel chair, mobile handy phone - with complimentary unlimited local and IDD calls, wireless printing - to remotely print documents from the room, {olymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC) film-enabled switchable privacy smart glass panels separating the bedroom and bathroom, en-suite free-standing rain shower and separate bathtub, bathroom amenities by Orla Kiely, day and blackout blinds, 40-inch smart LED television with Miracast and Airplay-enabled functions, Klipsch Bluetooth-enabled speaker and Crowne Plaza’s signature Sleep Advantage kit to promote a restful stay.

The rooms overlook the main building through floor-to-ceiling glass windows and guests can also look forward to enjoying a magnificent view of Jewel Changi Airport once it is completed in 2019.

Ms Leanne Harwood, Vice President of Operations, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), South East Asia and Korea, said, “We have enjoyed a successful partnership with OUE Group over the years, and by expanding the hotel’s capacity, we are in an even better position to support the growth of Changi Airport and to provide quality accommodation to over 17 million visitors expected in Singapore each year.”

The hotel is connected to Changi Airport Terminal 3 via an air-conditioned pathway providing seamless access to the departure hall and other airport terminals.

Major business districts such as Changi Business Park, Singapore Expo and Changi Exhibition centre are close by, providing convenience for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) travellers.

Some of Singapore's popular attractions such as Gardens by the Bay, Orchard Road shopping belt and East Coast Park for beachside recreation are also just a short drive away, offering plenty of options for guests to unwind during their leisure time.

To commute via Singapore’s efficient public transport system, guests can hop on the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) with Changi Airport station just a 3-minute walk away.

Ms Lim Peck Hoon, Executive Vice President, Commercial of Changi Airport Group said, “We are pleased to mark a new milestone for Changi Airport with the successful completion and opening of the extension of the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport hotel. The extension significantly increases the number of hotel rooms and enhances the accommodation choices for passengers, especially business travellers, at Changi. We look forward to working with Crowne Plaza Changi Airport hotel to continue to provide a seamless travel experience for our passengers.”
