Jose Alberto Ocasio Joins Mövenpick Resort Boracay as GM

Jose Alberto Ocasio has been appointed General Manager of the Mövenpick Resort Boracay.

Scheduled to open in July 2016, Mövenpick Resort Boracay is the second Mövenpick-branded property in the Philippines after the 245-room contemporary-styled Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu.

"We are very pleased to have landed someone of Jose's talent," said Andrew Langdon, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts Senior Vice President Asia. "He has spent his career in key roles at some of the best brands in the world, and as such he is ideally placed to further enhance the Mövenpick brand in this high-potential market."

US national Mr Ocasio, fluent in English and Spanish, started his career with Ritz-Carlton in the States, beginning in 1996 as a Front Desk Agent/Night Relief Manager at The Ritz-Carlton Pentagon City. He held positions at three other Ritz-Carlton hotels, including in Philadelphia and Bahrain, before leaving the company in 2009 after serving as Executive Assistant Manager (rooms) for the brand's Cancun property.

Mr Ocasio's first general manager assignment came at Banyan Tree Club & Spa, Seoul in 2012, with that followed by general manager stints at Banyan Tree Hotel and Resorts/Angsana Velavaru, the Maldives and Banyan Tree Hotel and Resorts/Angsana Laguna Phuket, Thailand.

The 333-room Mövenpick Resort Boracay is located in the north west of Boracay island on Punta Bunga Beach, famed for its powdery white sand, breathtaking sunsets and aquamarine waters.

The resort comprises a village community-style cluster of nine low-rise buildings blended seamlessly with the natural environment nestled around a multi-level lagoon pool.

Beach lifestyle will be celebrated to the full at Mövenpick's Beach Club, which will feature music and other entertainment.

The wellness centre will have six treatment rooms, including a dedicated couples room, and a full range of fitness care programs such as yoga, tai chi and aqua aerobics. The water sports centre will also offer an extensive range of activities.
