Jumeirah Signs Hotel and Residences in Istanbul, Turkey

Jumeirah has won a contract from Turkey’s Kuzu Group to operate a mixed-use development in the Ataköy district of Istanbul.

The US$450m Sea Pearl development, which is anticipated to open in 2019, will include a luxury 202-room Jumeirah hotel and 62 private residences managed under the Jumeirah brand.

Mr. Özen Kuzu, CEO, Kuzu Group, said, “The Ataköy district is strategically located to attract both leisure and business travellers. This urban resort development will enjoy unrestricted views of the Marmara Sea and have a sense of peace and tranquility, whilst also being closely connected to Istanbul’s historical centre just a short drive away. It is within close proximity to the Atatürk International Airport and an emerging commercial district, where several new mixed use projects are under development or recently completed. We are delighted to be partnering in this prominent and luxurious project with a worldwide renowned group such as Jumeirah.”

The hotel will feature rooms and various suite categories ranging in size from 47 to 430 square-meters, while the residences will be from 57 square-meters (one bedroom) to 400 square-meters (five-bedroom).

The development also includes a significant conference hall, a VIP Club facility measuring 2,873 square-meters, a Business Centre, a large sports complex, which will include a large spa and wellness facility with Turkish hammam as well as an indoor-outdoor swimming pool, a shopping arcade and several food and beverage facilities including a seafront dining area.

The Ataköy property will be the third in Turkey for Jumeirah Group which currently operates Pera Palace Hotel Jumeirah, a heritage hotel located in the heart of Istanbul, as well as the summer resort, Jumeirah Bodrum Palace, which is set along the spectacular Bodrum coast of the Aegean Sea.

Mr. Stefan Leser, Group Chief Executive, Jumeirah Group, said, “This welcome addition to our portfolio is another step towards achieving the group’s long term growth strategy. Kuzu Group’s established track record for visionary developments fits well with Jumeirah’s reputation for luxury and exceptional hospitality, and we look forward to a long and successful partnership.”
