IHG Signs InterContinental Resort in Phuket, Thailand

InterContinental Hotels Group has signed a management agreement with Proud Resort Phuket Co., Ltd to develop an InterContinental resort in Phuket.

Scheduled to open in 2019, the InterContinental Phuket Resort will be part of a luxury community project, MontAzure, on Phuket’s west coast. The property will be located on Kamala Beach, between Millionaire’s Mile and the Amanpuri headland.

The InterContinental Phuket Resort will comprise of a mix of villas and hotel rooms, with unobstructed views of the Andaman Sea. The resort will have direct beach access, a swimming pool, spa, fitness centre, Kid’s Club and a Club InterContinental

The InterContinental Phuket Resort will be a key component in the overall MontAzure development. The entire 454 rai site includes 75 condominiums, 13 private hillside estate villas, beach clubs for public and private use, a lifestyle retail component, a medical and wellness centre and a 200 rai protected nature reserve.

Alan Watts, Chief Operating Officer AMEA, IHG said, “Phuket has always been an important destination in South East Asia for IHG, with the island’s tourist arrivals recording double-digit year-on-year growth since 2011. We are glad to be able to work with our long-term partner Proud Phuket Resorts Co, on what will be a key resort property for us in a prime destination in Thailand.”

The resort will be the sixth IHG property in the Greater Phuket area, and the 19th IHG property in Thailand.

Khun Pasu Liptapanlop, Executive Director of Proud Real Estate Co., Ltd., said, “Located on Kamala beach, InterContinental Phuket Resort will be one of the most exclusive luxury resorts in Phuket. It features a two-kilometre long stretch of beautiful beach surrounded by forested hills and is one of the most pristine and exclusive places in Phuket. The resort itself will be within the exclusive development of MontAzure and will include a sophisticated beach club, luxurious private residences and lifestyle mall surrounded by a protected forest reserve.”

Across South East Asia, there are currently 14 InterContinental properties open, with an additional eight InterContinental properties due to open within the next three to five years.
