594,917 Hotel Rooms Under Contract in Asia Pacific

According to STR’s February 2016 Pipeline Report, there are 594,917 rooms in 2,571 hotels Under Contract in the Asia Pacific region.

The total represents a 9.5% increase in rooms Under Contract compared with February 2015 and a 4.0% year-on-year increase in rooms In Construction.

The region reported 260,546 rooms in 1,041 hotels under construction for the month.

Among the countries in the region, China reported the most rooms under construction with 150,101 rooms in 484 hotels. Two other countries reported more than 20,000 rooms under construction: Indonesia (23,667 rooms in 120 hotels) and India (22,388 rooms in 137 hotels).

Under Contract data includes projects in the In Construction, Final Planning and Planning stages but does not include projects in the Unconfirmed stage.
