Sands Resorts Cotai Strip Macau has entered into a long-term strategy partnership with Lander Real Estate, one of China’s leading property development companies, to co-develop sporting events both nationally and abroad.

Sands has long been devoted to diversifying the tourism landscape of Macau by hosting and supporting premier sporting events and a diverse range of entertainment offerings. In this regard, Sands Resorts Cotai Strip Macau shares the same commitment as Lander Real Estate as both companies endeavour to boost the development of culture and sport in China. To showcase major sporting events to a wider audience, a sports broadcasting company was established by Lander in Macau this year.

“This strategic partnership will see our companies co-developing major sports offerings together, especially boxing events – a sport that continues to become increasingly popular in China,” said Dave Horton, global chief marketing officer of Las Vegas Sands Corp. & Sands China Ltd., “Sporting events are one of the many ways our company works to diversify Macau’s tourism landscape. Sands Resorts Cotai Strip Macau will work with Lander Real Estate to build upon the recognition of Macau and Sands Resorts Cotai Strip Macau as the home of the best boxing events in Asia.”

Sands Resorts Cotai Strip Macau has played host to major international sporting events in the multi-purpose 15,000-seat Cotai Arena at The Venetian Macau, including basketball, tennis, boxing, ice skating, extreme sports, dirt-bike and racing. Most recently the arena has seen boxers Manny Pacquiao and Olympic gold medalist Zou Shiming perform, putting Macau as a venue in the spotlight at the same time, helping to raise the profile of Macau as a world centre of tourism and leisure.

Sands Resorts Cotai Strip Macau features more than 9,000 hotel rooms; 1.5 million square feet of meeting and convention space; more than 650 duty-free high-end and mid-market retail outlets; a diverse range of dining options, including the Michelin starred Indian restaurant Golden Peacock; and a broad variety of entertainment offerings.
