Thai AirAsia has unveiled plans to launch 5 direct flights per week to Bangalore in southern India.

To celebrate the launch of Bangkok (Don Mueang) flights to Bangalore, AirAsia is offering a special fare of 1,490 THB per trip (including airport tax).

The promotion is valid until 5 July 2015 for travel between 1 September 2015 and 31 August 2016.

Mr. Tassapon Bijleveld, CEO of Thai AirAsia, said, “I am confident our Bangkok-Bangalore direct flight will receive great interest as Bangalore is one of south India’s most important cities. It is well known for its education and attracts many students, especially medical students. Its technological advancements also set it apart. Our new flight provides a great opportunity for both tourism and investment. We are also working with AirAsia India, which has an extensive domestic network in India; this will help Indian travellers looking to visit Thailand. In the past year, Indian travellers were among the top ten most frequent visitors to Thailand. Also for Thai tourists, they will be able to discover many Indian destinations with AirAsia India’s flights to Kochi, Goa, Pune, Jaipur, Chandigarh, New Delhi, and Visakhapatnam.”

Bangalore, also known as Bengaluru, is the fifth largest city in India and has its third largest population. The city is known for its technology and education and is a center for India’s IT and software industries, often called the Silicon Valley of India. The city is home to many renowned universities such as Bangalore University, one of the foremost producers of IT professionals in the world. Bangalore also contains many attractive tourism sites such as Vidhana Soudha, one of its most iconic buildings displaying a Neo Dravidian architecture. Visitors should also view Bangalore Palace, which was inspired by England’s famed Windsor Palace, or Mysore Palace, with its over 500 years of history.
