George Wee has been appointed as Regional Vice President, in addition to his role as general manager, Fairmont Peace Hotel in Shanghai.

George’s focus will now include increased responsibility for all the other operating Fairmont properties in China – Fairmont Beijing, Fairmont Nanjing and Fairmont Yangcheng Lake – and he will work closely with each hotel’s leadership teams on the development of strategic business practices.

“George will play an important role in providing leadership to the current Fairmont properties in China,” said Foued El Mabrouk, Vice President, Operations, China, FRHI Hotels & Resorts. “His extensive experience with the Chinese market is a huge advantage and I have full confidence that he will contribute immensely to the success of Fairmont in the region.”

Before joining the company in 2013, George held senior management positions with hotel brands such as Shangri-La, InterContinental and Sheraton in China, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia.

George began his stint with the hospitality industry in 1980 after his graduation in Hotel Management at Brighton College, Sussex, England.
