Michael Schlueter Appointed MD of Westin Langkawi and St. Regis Langkawi

Michael Schlueter has been appointed as Managing Director of The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa and The St. Regis Resort Langkawi.

Michael first arrived to the mythical island of Langkawi in 2012 as the General Manager of The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa.

Armed with more than 27 years of work experience in the industry, Michael has been a General Manager for 16 years, leading hotels like Le Méridien Munich – Germany, Sheraton Palace Moscow – Russia, as well as holding an acting General Manager role at the Westin Grand Hotel in Berlin – Germany.

Prior to Michael’s role as general manager of the Westin Langkawi Resort and Spa, Michael was the opening General Manager of the Le Méridien Istanbul Etiler in Turkey, a 259-room flagship hotel in Europe.

The marked path of his career with Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. began in 1987 at the Sheraton Frankfurt Hotel, Germany as the Front Office Shift Leader, a hotel with more than 1000 rooms. Since then, Michael has progressed to hold various management assignments in Germany, Poland, Russia and most recently, Turkey.

Apart from hotels, Michael also had a short stint with the Profit Improvement Engagement Team at the Starwood Divisional Headquarters in Brussels, where he participated in identifying additional revenue opportunities at various hotels in the Europe, Africa and Middle East (EAME) Division.

A Business School graduate from the University of Munich, Germany, Michael unwinds by playing golf or sailing the azure Andaman Sea with his wife, Maria.
