Hyatt Hotels & Resorts has made the following two General Manager appointments:

Fredrick Arul has been appointed as General Manager of Hyatt Hotel Canberra - A Park Hyatt Hotel. Fredrick began his career in hospitality over 30 years ago in Malaysia, and subsequently gained experience at leading hotels in locations as diverse as Switzerland, South Africa, Beijing and Bali. Most recently, Fredrick was Executive Vice President at TCC Hotels Management, managing the assets of 19 international hotels and overseeing both operations and development.

“I would like to thank outgoing General Manager Mikael Svensson for his incredible contribution to Hyatt Hotel Canberra - A Park Hyatt Hotel over the past four years,” said Robert Dawson, Hyatt’s Area Vice President for the Pacific region. “Mikael has left a significant imprint, but I am confident that Fredrick, with his exemplary credentials and decades of frontline and management experience, will be an invaluable asset to the Hyatt Pacific team.”

In Mainland China, Carol Ren has been appointed as General Manager of Hyatt Regency Chongming. Carol commenced her career with Hyatt in 1999, joining the pre-opening Front Office team at Grand Hyatt Shanghai, which was the very first Grand Hyatt branded hotel in China. She advanced to become Director of Rooms and part of the pre-opening team at Hyatt on the Bund in 2006, and subsequently was chosen to be its Hotel Manager in 2013.

“It is extremely rewarding to see Carol’s talent having developed, and continuing to develop, within Hyatt and I am fully confident that she is well prepared for this opportunity,” said Richard Greaves, Hyatt’s Area Vice President for China. “We are delighted that Carol will lead the Hyatt Regency Chongming team into the future and firmly believe her youthful dynamism and energy, together with her strong knowledge of the Shanghai market, will achieve even more success for the hotel.”
