SAS Launches Travel Cash Service

SAS has launched Travel Cash, a brand new service which is designed to make travel easier for the airline’s frequent fliers by allowing 12 different currencies to be loaded onto their EuroBonus card.

Travellers can also earn EuroBonus points every time the card is used to make a purchase.

“We want to make travel easier for our customers, so we are proud to be launching a new and innovative product that will do just that. Being able to load their EuroBonus card with foreign currency even before departure gives our customers complete control of their spending money. The SAS EuroBonus card can then be used like a regular charge card, and our customers can also earn EuroBonus points on everything they buy,” said Nils Lindhe, Head of SAS EuroBonus.

The SAS app provides an overview of the currency exchanged and provides options to exchange more currency, add a different currency, or sell currency back.

SAS Travel Cash also comes in handy when using the card on business, as the app will help you see the exact amount you have spent in local currency.

SAS partnered with MasterCard, so the card can be used worldwide everywhere that accepts MasterCard and also for online purchases.

The new card also contains NFC technology, enabling passengers to pay for things by holding the card against the payment terminal without the need to input their PIN for purchases under SEK 250.

“We are incredibly proud that SAS has chosen MasterCard as its partner to offer its customers new and innovative solutions to make travel even easier. Through this partnership with SAS, MasterCard is also taking an important step into the European airline industry, which is an arena where we see a lot of potential,” said Bart Willaert, Regional Manager MasterCard, Nordic and Baltic countries.

Every year SAS flies approximately 28 million travelers to more than 100 destinations around the world. The airline has around 4 million EuroBonus members.
