Making a Difference: Wyndham Team Rappels 21 Stories in Fight Against Addiction

Wyndham Hotel Group President and CEO Geoff Ballotti and a team of 26 Wyndham employees rappelled 21 stories in support of Shatterproof, an organization committed to protecting children from addiction to alcohol or other drugs.

The Wyndham team joined approximately 80 participants who committed to raise the minimum $1,000 requirement to rappel in Tuesday’s East Rutherford, N.J., event near Wyndham’s Parsippany, N.J., headquarters.

“The event was an incredible experience, and one I won’t soon forget thanks to all the wonderful people involved with Shatterproof,” said Ballotti. “As a company that is committed to giving back to our communities, we are proud that so many of our associates stepped up to participate in the challenge and help raise funds for this incredible organization that helps so many families cope with addiction.”

Wyndham team members have raised over $26,000 to date for Shatterproof through individual and company-wide fundraising events. The company’s Wishes by Wyndham foundation, which is matching up to $100 per Wyndham participant in Tuesday’s event, has also donated $10,000 in support of the event.

Gary Mendell, founder and CEO of Shatterproof, said, “We are grateful to Wyndham for their partnership and incredible generosity. Wyndham and their associates clearly are committed to our mission of increasing awareness and funding for the prevention, treatment, and recovery of this disease. They showed up for us on Tuesday as our biggest corporate team to date. Words cannot express my gratitude.”
