Qatar Airways Joins Royal Aeronautical Society

Qatar Airways has joined the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) as a Corporate Partner.

Headquartered in the United Kingdom, the objectives of The Royal Aeronautical Society include supporting and maintaining high professional standards in aerospace disciplines; to provide a unique source of specialist information and to act as a local forum for the exchange of ideas.

The airline’s corporate partnership will run on an ongoing basis as a supporter and participant in chapter events and initiatives.

The airline’s Group Chief Executive, Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said, “At the Singapore Airshow last year, it was an honour to be presented with a Fellowship to the Royal Aeronautical Society, and it is my aim to continue to introduce bold vision into this industry, to build a legacy of passion and accelerated growth for all travellers worldwide.”

The Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) is the world's only professional body dedicated to the entire aerospace community. Established in 1866 to further the art, science and engineering of aeronautics, the Society has been at the forefront of developments in aerospace ever since.

Martin Broadhurst, President of the Society, said, “The Royal Aeronautical Society is pleased to welcome Qatar Airways as the latest Corporate Partner to support the Society ... We are also delighted that Mr Al Baker will deliver the Brabazon Lecture in November 2016 as part of the Royal Aeronautical Society’s 150th Anniversary celebrations, during which HRH the Prince of Wales will be our Honorary President. The Royal Aeronautical Society looks forward to building a long-term relationship with Qatar Airways and supporting their growth in the aviation sector.”

Qatar Airways currently flies to 152 destinations worldwide, operating a fleet of 170 state-of-the-art aircraft with an average age of five years or less.
