Jamal Hussain Joins Regent Bali as AVP and GM

Mr. Jamal Hussain has been appointed as the assistant vice president and general manager of the Regent Bali.

Mr. Hussain comes to the Regent Bali from Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts, where he held senior positions in Maldives, Bintan, Singapore and Bali.

Mr. Hussain’s resume includes tenures with prestigious properties located in Europe and Asia. Some of these properties include: Hilton Vienna, Grand Hyatt Jakarta, Grand Hyatt Taipei, Peninsula Hong Kong, privately owned Palace of The Golden Horses in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; and Banyan Tree properties in Maldives, Bintan and Bali.

Mr. Hussain graduated with a diploma in tourism & hotel management from Schloss Klesheim in Salzburg, Austria, and started his career in the hospitality industry with Hilton Vienna, Austria. Having begun his career in food and beverage, Mr. Hussain worked his way up to the position of general manager at Palace of the Golden Horses, Malaysia in 1997.

Mr. Rene Mayer, who was recently promoted to global director of sales at Regent Hotels & Resorts, is the director of sales and marketing at Regent Bali.

Prior to joining Regent, Mr. Mayer was director of sales and marketing at Sofitel Plaza Hanoi, where he focused on the collective goals of the luxury hotel chain.

Previously, Mayer served as director of global sales worldwide for Vienna International Hotels & Resorts, Austria and cluster director of sales for Hilton Mainz International, among others.

Mr. Mayer holds his masters in hospitality management from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and a business studies degree in economics, marketing and sales from VWA Frankfurt, Germany.
