Wyndham Hotel Group has appointed hospitality veteran Barry Robinson as President and Managing Director, South East Asia and Pacific Rim.

In this role, effective 1 January 2015, Robinson will be responsible for Wyndham Hotel Group’s operations and development functions in the region as well as the coordination and execution of cross-functional brand initiatives.

Robinson has served Wyndham Hotel Group since 2009 as managing director, South Pacific, overseeing the company’s expansion into Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia and Guam. Under his leadership, the hotel group’s portfolio has grown to 15 hotels currently open and operating under the Ramada, Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, TRYP by Wyndham and Days Inn brand flags.

He has also served as CEO and managing director of Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific since 2003, which is part of sister company Wyndham Vacation Ownership, one of the world’s largest developers and marketers of flexible, points-based vacation ownership products. Robinson will retain this position in addition to his new role with Wyndham Hotel Group.

“We are pleased to have Barry in this new role with Wyndham Hotel Group and look forward to the opportunities this position will help create for our continued expansion in South East Asia and the Pacific Rim,” said Bob Loewen, Wyndham Hotel Group’s executive vice president and chief operating officer. “We see strong potential for growth throughout this market and Barry’s leadership, along with his extensive hospitality experience, strong regional knowledge and established network of relationships, will undoubtedly accelerate development in the region.”

Earlier in his hospitality career, Robinson held roles in the Asia Pacific region with global hotel companies such as Swissotel Worldwide Partner Hotels and Choice Hotels International.
