December 2013 Asia Pacific Hotel Development Pipeline Comprised 2,022 Hotels

According to the December 2013 STR Global Construction Pipeline Report, the Asia Pacific hotel development pipeline comprises 2,022 hotels totalling 438,034 rooms. The total active pipeline data includes projects in the In Construction, Final Planning and Planning stages but does not include projects in the Pre-Planning stage.

Among the Chain Scale segments, the Upscale segment accounted for the largest portion of rooms in the total active pipeline (26.8% with 117,275 rooms).

Three other segments each made up more than 15% of rooms in the total active pipeline: the Upper Upscale segment (23.1% with 101,288 rooms); the Unaffiliated segment (17.9% with 78,386 rooms); and the Luxury segment (15.6% with 68,484 rooms).

The Upper Upscale segment accounted for the most rooms under construction in the region (27.1% with 67,219 rooms), followed by the Upscale segment (25.9% with 64,296 rooms).
