STR Reports Asia Pacific Hotel Pipeline for January 2014

According to the January 2014 STR Global Construction Pipeline Report, the Asia Pacific hotel development pipeline comprises 2,171 hotels totalling 481,564 rooms.

The total active pipeline data includes projects in the In Construction, Final Planning and Planning stages but does not include projects in the Pre-Planning stage.

Among the countries in the region, China reported the most rooms under construction with 144,954 in 481 hotels. Five other countries reported more than 5,000 rooms under construction: India (189 hotels with 31,069 rooms); Indonesia (149 hotels with 23,778 rooms); Malaysia (39 hotels with 10,010 rooms); Philippines (35 hotels with 8,183 rooms); and Thailand (34 hotels with 5,441 rooms).
