Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has signed a Radisson Blu resort in Chongqing, China.

The new hotel will be Carlson Rezidor’s fourth in the Southwestern metropolis of Chongqing, a major manufacturing and pharmaceutical hub and one of China’s four municipal cities, alongside Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin.

Chongqing is also known for its hot springs and natural beauty, and the Chongqing government is revamping the tourist infrastructure and major attractions such as the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Three Natural Bridges to boost tourist arrivals, which topped 288 million in 2012.

“Chongqing has emerged as one of China’s leading megacities and we are proud to be a part of its development as a tourism city in southwest China. We believe that Radisson Blu Resort Chongqing BeiBei, strategically located in the famed north hot spring site, can positively contribute to its tourism growth. We look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship with leading hot spring resort developer CUTC Chongqing Easpring Hot Spring Development, to make this resort a success. This new deal underlies our strong commitment to China and strategic penetration of anchor markets in Asia Pacific,” said Thorsten Kirschke, President, Asia Pacific, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group.

Radisson Blu Resort Chongqing BeiBei is a 280-room new build hotel, located close to the Cai Industrial Zone for high-tech industries, Shuitu High Tech Zone for pharmaceutical firms, Yuelai International Convention Center and Liangjiang New District, China’s third National New District. The hotel is accessible via several major highways and is also within easy reach of the city center, the train station, and Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, one of the largest airports in Southeast China, with a capacity that is expected to hit 45 million a year following an expansion project that is scheduled for completion in 2015.

The hotel will be part of a 222,000sqm mixed development called Yishang Mountain Hot Spring Town, which includes, a hot spring and spa, high-end residences, commercial space and leisure facilities.

Radisson Blu Resort Chongqing BeiBei will have three restaurants, a lobby lounge and bar, a fitness center, spa, an indoor swimming pool and a variety of meeting spaces.
