Hong Kong’s Airport Express train service is celebrating its 15th anniversary this month.

For four consecutive weeks starting today (5 July 2013), 1,500 single journey tickets will be offered for sale at 15:00 (HK time) on each Friday of the week at the special price of just HK$15 per ticket for any journey between the airport and any Airport Express station. The promotional tickets will be available through Groupon.

“As we celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Airport Express, we want to thank our passengers for their support over the years and we hope the 15 Years of Travel Delights promotion will provide a fun start to their group vacations this summer. We are very proud that the Airport Express has carried over 146 million passengers in the past 15 years and it is our passengers’ support which has helped Airport Express to be recognised internationally as one of the best airport railways in the world,” said Adi Lau, Chief of Operating of MTR Corporation.

Most recently, Airport Express won the Global AirRail Award 2013 - North Star Air Rail Link of the Year for having the best performance results and highest overall impact in the air-rail market.

“Other than a fast, safe and reliable train service, we also offer passengers a range of convenient add-value services such as In-town Check-in and just next week free Wi-Fi hotspots at all stations,” said Mr Lau. “We will continue to explore the use of new technology to bring more information to passengers. We will introduce one-stop information displays at the In-town Check-in halls in Hong Kong and Kowloon stations and revamp the MTR Tourist App with a whole range of new tailor-made features to facilitate better journey planning for passengers anytime and anywhere.”
