Khiri Travel has been appointed as the Official Travel Partner of this year's Luang Prabang Film Festival, a charitable cultural event that celebrates Southeast Asian cinema and supports the region's filmmakers.

The festival, which will take place from 7-11 December 2013, is free to attend. Screens are rigged on garden lawns, at the central market and on the walls of hotels and businesses around the former royal capital of Laos, which is now a scenic riverside World Heritage Site.

At the main outdoor venue, the festival regularly welcomes audiences of over 1,000 people to the screenings.

"The values behind the festival mirror those of Khiri Travel," said the Khiri CEO, Willem Niemeijer. "We both celebrate cultural diversity, creativity and stories well told. Southeast Asia is a magical part of the world. Its stories should be told well and nurtured by a proud and sustainable film industry."

Khiri Travel will help make the festival an operational success by providing all related travel services. Any hotel, flight or tour query that the festival receives will be handled by Khiri. Khiri will offer custom packages to attendees and offer pre and post-event tours. It will also take care of VIP travel arrangements.

In addition to a cash contribution, Khiri Travel will donate almost half of its festival-related profits back to the not-for-profit organization. Khiri will contribute the use of a Khiri minivan to the festival during the event.

The Luang Prabang Film Festival, now in its 4th year, is active year-round, producing workshops and educational film activities, arranging special screenings and events, acting as a resource for filmmaking in Laos, and operating the Lao Filmmakers Fund, which allows Lao artists to apply for grants to help make their film projects possible.

"We are thrilled to have such strong support from Khiri Travel this year," said Gabriel Kuperman, the Director of the Film Festival. "This partnership will have a very positive impact on the event's logistics, and make it even easier for visitors to participate in our screenings and activities, while also experiencing other aspects of Luang Prabang and Laos."
