Six Senses Laamu has confirmed that it will be business as usual following the acquisition of the property by Singapore-based HPL through its subsidiary Leisure Frontiers Pvt Ltd.

Stephen Lau, Chairman of HPL Hotels & Resorts, said, “As the new owners, we are extremely pleased that Six Senses will continue operating the property, which incorporates all the creativity and personal attention to detail for which Six Senses is renowned. The group’s pioneering position in the Maldives gives them a unique insight to target markets and to operating in the destination.”

Designed and operated by Six Senses, the 97 villa eco-friendly property, with its award-winning Six Senses Spa, opened in 2011 in the southern Maldives’ Laamu atoll.

As well as a stunning location, with powder white sand and azure blue lagoon waters, the property embraces Six Senses’ environmental and local community commitment.

The idyllic destination presents a wealth of activities offered by the resort. Dive enthusiasts will thrill to the early morning and evening dives, or have an entire excursion of underwater adventures planned for them.

Water sports choices abound, with wakeboarding, water-skiing, windsurfing, catamaran sailing, and the added bonus of the aspirational offshore Ying Yang wave for surfing enthusiasts.

Then there’s the dolphins, swimming and spinning along the shoreline. Private picnics are to be had on nearby deserted islands, barbecue dinners on the resort’s sandbank and full days of island hopping, where snorkelling and a delicious lunch enhance the castaway experience.

Six Senses, CEO Neil Jacobs said, “I am very happy to have HPL as the new owner of a Six Senses resort. This is a wonderful culmination of more than twenty years of personal and professional relationships with executives of HPL, during which time the company has established an enviable record of being exceptional owners.”

The acquisition of Six Senses Laamu will be a seamless transition for trade and consumer sectors, with all programmes and commitments on-going.
