The Novotel Bangkok on Siam Square recently partnered EnerGaia to launch a rooftop farming project that has it growing Spirulina on the hotels rooftop.

Dedicating 130sqm of previously unused roof space, the project is on track to produce more than 2 tons of nutritious vegetarian protein per year utilizing ambient urban carbon dioxide.

David Baldwin, the hotels General Manager, said, This cooperation with EnerGaia complements our ongoing efforts to be an environmentally responsible operator, and show that economic and sustainable goals can work hand in hand.

Novotel Bangkok on Siam Square earned the coveted ISO:9001 certification in 2000, and has since followed that achievement as an enthusiastic champion of Accors global sustainability program, Planet 21.
