Thai Airways to Launch Flights to Sendai, Japan

Thai Airways International is to launch direct flights between Bangkok and Sendai, the capital of Miyagi Prefecture in Japan, on 3 December 2013.

Thai Airways will operate three flights per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, operated with Airbus A330-300 aircraft, equipped with 299 passenger seats: 26 Royal Silk Class seats and 263 Economy Class seats.

According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand, more than 400,000 Japanese tourists traveled to Thailand in the first quarter of this year, which is the second largest number of tourist arrivals from the Asian region or an increase of 22%.

The Thai-Japanese tourism market has a growth rate of 18.5% and during the first nine months of this year, THAIs cabin factor on routes to Japan was 79.8% and THAIs growth rate on these routes was as high as 23.7%.

Currently, Thai Airways flies to six cities or seven airports and operates the following flights:

- Round trip flights to Bangkok-Narita (Tokyo) at 21 flights per week
- Round trip flights to Bangkok-Haneda (Tokyo) at 7 flights per week
- Round trip flights to Bangkok-Nagoya at 14 flights per week
- Round trip flights to Bangkok-Osaka at 17 flights per week
- Round trip flights to Bangkok-Fukuoka at 7 flights per week
- Round trip flights to Bangkok-Sapporo at 7 flights per week
- Round trip flights to Bangkok-Sendai at 3 flights per week (effective 3 December 2013)

To celebrate the launch, Thai Airways is offering special fares from 19,800 Baht for travel between 3 December 2013 and 15 January 2014. Terms and conditions apply.
