Virginia Wu Returns to Worldhotels as Senior Director of Hotel Development

Business development dynamo, Virginia Wu, has returned to Worldhotels as Senior Director of Hotel Development, based at Worldhotels’ regional headquarters in Singapore.

Virginia previously contributed significantly to Worldhotels’ rapid Asia Pacific expansion between 1997 and 2008, bringing more than 80 new hotels into the portfolio, including the Stamford Hotel Group in Australia and Lotte Hotels in Korea.

“I am delighted that Virginia is coming back to our family,” said Roland Jegge, Executive Vice President Asia Pacific of Worldhotels. “She was such an integral part of the company’s success for so many years; it feels terrific to have her back with us again.”

An industry veteran with 25 years of experience, she returns following appointments with Harbour Plaza Hotel Management Ltd as Group Director of Sales & Marketing and ACI Executive Search in Hong Kong.

Since 2008 she had continued her association with Worldhotels as a Trainer and Associate Lecturer with sister company IFH, as well as the Tourism Management Institute of Singapore (TMIS), Kaplan Higher Education Academy and Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS), and HKU SPACE Hong Kong.

Additional senior appointments include Daniel Melchiorre who is the new Director of Performance and Revenue Optimisation PRO) Asia Pacific, heading all areas of member support and revenue growth and generation, also based in Singapore. He relocates from the United States, where he was Director of PRO Americas, growing the Worldhotels portfolio among some of its largest American affiliate hotels, including the 4,000-room ARIA Resort & Casino and 1,700-room Vdara Hotel in Las Vegas.

With a wealth of experience in loyalty programme management, revenue optimisation, partnerships, hotel operations and sales & promotions, he has been with Worldhotels for 13 years since joining from Boutique Hotels New York as Group Director of Revenue.

Worldhotels has also appointed Anthea Scerri as Regional Sales Manager, Australia & New Zealand. Based in Melbourne, her role is expanding sales in the Australasia region.

The group’s Singapore headquarters is also strengthened with Tarka Rose-Venning joining the Worldhotels marketing team as Marketing Executive, Loyalty Programme & Special Projects, while Jocelyn Tan is appointed Co-ordinator, Performance & Revenue Optimisation.
