Hotel in Hong Kong to Offer Mobile Key Check-In Service

Regal Hotels is is to offer an “iclub Mobile Key Check-in” service at its iClub by Regal Sheung Wan Hotel, a new select-service hotel to be opened first quarter of 2014.

With the innovative mobile key technology, guests will be given the options to use mobile device for check-in service or traditional key card or both to access their guestroom.

The technology provides guest with convenience of accessing their hotel rooms using their mobile device that will automatically unlock the door, completely by-passing the front desk, and possible check-in queue.

When guests are booked on the Regal website and register for the mobile key check-in service, on the day of arrival, the guest will receive a text message on their mobile device giving details of their room number.

Upon arriving the guestroom, the guest simply needs to call that number and an audio signal will be played back, which will be detected by a sensor to open the door.

Mobile key check-in service is available to both smartphone and non-smartphone user.

The technology is the sole proprietary of Openways, an access and security solutions provider and distributed by DOCOMO interTouch, a Japanese technology company.

Along with the soon to be opened iclub by Regal Sheung Wan Hotel, this mobile key check-in service will also be extended to the iclub by Regal Tin Hau Hotel and iclub by Regal Soho Hotel, both of which are under construction.
