Singapore Airlines has introduced a new payment option for airfares booked through its website, as part of enhancements being made to the KrisFlyer frequent flyer programme.

Effective immediately, KrisFlyer members can use their miles to pay for Singapore Airlines and SilkAir flights booked through the Singapore Airlines website.

They can mix miles and cash to pay for an airfare, including payment of fuel surcharges and taxes.

A minimum of 5,000 miles is needed to start using the new option.

"This significant enhancement to the KrisFlyer programme has come about as a result of feedback that we have received from our customers. We have listened, and are pleased to offer another option for KrisFlyer members to use their miles for travel on Singapore Airlines and SilkAir," said Mak Swee Wah, Singapore Airlines' Executive Vice President Commercial. "The enhancements to our loyalty programme will not stop here. Members can look forward to further enhancements in the year ahead."
