STR Reports Central/South America Hotel Development Pipeline for July 2013

According to the July 2013 STR Global Construction Pipeline Report, the Central/South America hotel development pipeline comprises 248 hotels totalling 39,727 rooms.

The total active pipeline data includes projects in the In Construction, Final Planning and Planning stages but does not include projects in the Pre-Planning stage.

Year-to-date 2013, 27 hotels have opened in the region with 3,456 rooms. During the remainder of 2013, 46 hotels are expected to open with 6,532 rooms.

The Upscale segment is projected to open the most rooms with 2,103 rooms in 14 hotels, followed by the Upper Midscale segment (1,852 rooms in 12 hotels) and the Midscale segment (1,105 rooms in 10 hotels).

In 2014, 97 hotels are planned to open with 15,899 rooms. The most rooms are expected to open in the Midscale segment (3,972 rooms in 32 hotels), the Upscale segment (3,428 rooms in 20 hotels) and the Upper Midscale segment (2,871 rooms in 21 hotels).
