Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants has raised £1 million for its nominated charity, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSHCC) in less than a year since announcing their partnership.

The money raised will go towards helping the hospital replace some of its oldest clinical buildings. The redevelopment will see a transformation of the hospital environment and allow the hospital to better treat more children in state-of-the-art surroundings.

Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants comprises of the Premier Inn, Beefeater Grill, Brewers Fayre, Table Table and Taybarns brands.

Since Whitbread first began fundraising for GOSHCC, hundreds of staff working for Whitbread, have carried out a number of fundraising events, such as triathlons, swim-a-thons, cycle rides and family fun days. Premier Inn guests have also contributed to the charity with online donations.

Great Ormond Street Hospital is in the process of redeveloping some of the oldest parts of the hospital so that families can benefit from world-class care in 21st century facilities and have more space to be together at the bedside.

The £1 million that Whitbread, its guests and suppliers, have raised will support the hospital in achieving these aspirations.

Simon Ewins Business Development Director said, “On behalf of thousands of our team members and millions of guests who have been a part of our fundraising this last year I am extremely proud to say that we have reached £1 million – a phenomenal achievement which will help some of the sickest children from all over the UK. As we approach our one year anniversary supporting Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity it has been hugely inspiring to have seen how hard our teams have worked to achieve this great milestone. Be it marathon running, car washing in the snow, scaling great heights or battling the elements to abseiling down our tallest Premier Inn’s or volunteering on behalf of the business at GOSHCC events, our teams have embraced the challenge along with our guests and supporters. Thank you to everyone.”

Neal Donnelly, Director of Corporate Partnerships at Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity said, “We would like to thank everyone at Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants for their hard work and generosity in raising an incredible £1 million for the charity. This money will be put to really good use, helping us transform the hospital and make a real difference for our young patients and their families.”
