Mandalay is a former capital of Myanmar and still ranks as its second largest city after Yangon. It serves as the economic epicenter of the country’s north and is home to numerous inviting tourist destinations such as the Maha Myat Muni Buddha, considered a living Buddha statue, which is ritually bathed and cared for each morning as one of the five holiest sites in Myanmar, Mandalay Palace; one of Asia’s most exquisite royal abodes, Shwenandaw; the teak monastery, U Bein Bridge; the longest teak bridge in the world and Kusodaw Pagoda; home of the world’s largest Buddhist scripture.
