Mandarin Oriental to Open Hotel in Chengdu

Mandarin Oriental is to manage a luxury hotel in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province, China.

Mandarin Oriental, Chengdu, which is currently under development and slated to open in 2015, will form part of a mixed-use development located on a prime riverfront site in the Jin-jiang district, close to the city’s key commercial and entertainment areas and opposite the ancient Wang-jiang Park, which dates back to the Ming dynasty.

Located on the top 33 floors of a tower, the hotel will feature 320 rooms including 41 suites, with views of the Jin-jiang river, the city skyline and Wang-jiang Park.

Mandarin Oriental, Chengdu will have a wide selection of restaurants and bars to choose from, including a sky-high rooftop bar and tea lounge, a Chinese restaurant serving Sichuan cuisine, three speciality dining venues and a signature Mandarin Oriental Cake Shop.

The hotel will also offer an 1,200-seat grand ballroom and a 500-seat junior ballroom plus a variety of multi-purpose function spaces.

An all-encompassing 2,740 sqm Spa at Mandarin Oriental will feature 10 expansive treatment rooms, offering a comprehensive range of wellness, beauty and massage treatments.

The hotel will also offer an executive club lounge as well as extensive fitness facilities including an indoor swimming pool.

The owner and developer of the project is Chengdu Mind River Land Co., Ltd. The Hong Kong-based international architectural firm, Aedas, has been appointed as master planner and architect.
