The Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket has been awarded EarthCheck Silver Benchmark status.

Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket is situated in the Laguna Phuket Resort Complex, spanning 1,000 acres of tropical parkland along an 8km stretch of pristine beach at Bang Tao Bay on Phuket's west coast.

To earn the EarthCheck Silver Benchmark status, Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket’s team reported their environmental carbon footprint to independent auditors while maintaining practices consistent with internationally recognised standards. Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket was also required to submit a year’s worth of operational data for analysis. The data was then measured using key indicators such as energy and water consumption as well as wastage.

Compared with last year, Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket has saved 20% on recyclable waste consumption, 25% on electricity consumption and 20% on water consumption. This commitment is reflected in the implementation of a number of power-saving and sustainability initiatives, such as:

- Using energy-saving lamps
- Encouraging guests to re-use towels
- Introducing a bottle recycling programme
- Using fire extinguishers that are not CFC-based
- Using live plants within the hotel
- Ensuring suppliers deliver as many items as possible in reusable plastic crates
- Encouraging staff to utilise energy efficiently
- Reusing paper where appropriate

Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket enhances its environmental commitment by introducing the ‘Green Credentials for Meeting Planners’ programme, which provides sustainable facilities and meeting package services to reduce the carbon footprints of its clients. The programme embraces a range of environmental initiatives to help save energy and natural resources.
