The 310-room Holiday Inn Dubai – Al Barsha has appointed JS Anand, a seasoned hotelier who moves to the UAE from Canada, as General Manager.

Mr. Anand was most recently General Manager with one of the Marriott brands in Toronto, a post he has held since June 2010.

Hailing from India and having Canadian citizenship, Mr. Anand achieved a diploma in hotel management as well as Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Commerce certification before starting his career in hospitality as part of the opening team at the Goa Marriott, India, where he was appointed as Director of Sales & Marketing and worked also with brands like Oberoi & Leela.

Speaking of his expectations in Dubai, Mr Anand said he was looking forward to capitalising on the key relationships with travel partners in the region he had made during his time in Canada to spearhead a new drive for business at the Holiday Inn Dubai – Al Barsha.

“Dubai is one of the most vibrant and challenging hotel markets worldwide, and my experience in international Sales & Marketing and Operations in North America will be invaluable in consolidating the considerable success the hotel already enjoys with its reputation for professionalism and engagement with the community,” Mr. Anand said.
