Qantas Changing International Checked Baggage Policy

Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Videos Tuesday, 3 April 2012

Qantas is changing its international checked baggage policy next month, moving from a weight system to a piece and weight system.

The changes provide customers with a simplified policy and better alignment with the Qantas domestic checked baggage policy, which changed in June 2011 to a piece and weight-based system.

The piece and weight baggage system is also used by a number of oneworld carriers including British Airways and American Airlines.

Last year, over 70% of Qantas customers travelling international Economy travelled with just one piece of checked baggage.

The new international policy will apply to all tickets issued on or after 2 May 2012 for Qantas international flights and oneworld partner flights with a ‘QF’ flight number.
