The Berkeley, located in leafy Knightsbridge in London, is a prime spot for bird lovers.

To attract the right type of birds for the newly launched terraces overlooking Hyde Park, The Berkeley has partnered with Sparrow & Finch, the creators of luxury birdhouses in England, who have designed special “Berkeley” wooden birdhouses.

With new guestrooms recently unveiled, each featuring an exclusive terrace with panoramic views of London, Sparrow & Finch have taken inspiration from the new contemporary rooms created by leading British interior designer Rob Angell.

Featuring two nest boxes in one, each birdhouse is beautifully hand painted in soft bone, complementing the stylish interiors. Made from sustainable timber with solid natural oak roof tiles, the handmade birdhouses each add a hint of English country garden in the heart of Knightsbridge.

“My love of the English country garden has prompted me to look at different ways of making the things that are common to our gardens, beautiful,” said Sammy Major, founder of Sparrow & Finch. “A bird house is something most of us have or should have in our gardens, to attract the now dwindling garden bird population.”

Located just a few minutes away from Hyde Park, one of the largest parks in the city, The Berkeley is in one of the most accessible and richest birding areas in central London. Guests have the chance to catch a glimpse of over 180 species of birds including the robin, sparrow, blackbird, nightingale, turtle dove and many more gliding by.

The completion of the first set of Balcony King Rooms marks the initial stage of a total room refurbishment program at The Berkeley. The colour palette of dove greys, soft yellow ochres and powder blues, boasting the most luxurious fabrics, has created an oasis of calm. The finishing touches, from hand stitched leather headboards, crafted metal, marble night stands and brushed pale grey timber furniture, form a timeless and contemporary series of rooms.

Justin Pinchbeck, General Manager at The Berkeley said, “We hope the bird houses will bring a smile to our guests, and add a whimsical touch to our new rooms.”

Balcony King Rooms at The Berkeley start from £339 plus VAT per night.
