AirAsia has reduced the prices of its pre-booked inflight meals regionally, with savings of up to 30% when booked online at airasia.com.

AirAsia also recently reduced its check-in baggage and sports equipment fees.

Shireen Chia, Regional Head of Catering & In-Flight Service, AirAsia said, “AirAsia’s commitment is to make all our guests’ flying experience a better one, and one of the grouses we commonly hear is guests not being able to have their preferred meals on board. We hope that the price reduction for online pre-booked meals will encourage more people to pre-book their preferred meals online along with their flight bookings. Not only can they save up to 30% when they pre-book their meals online, but guests can also ensure that they can enjoy their favourite meals on board.”

AirAsia’s pre-booked meals consist of a hot meal with a bottle of 100ml mineral water and are now priced at RM7.90 per set for Frankster (chicken hot dog), Cheesy Extravaganza Pizza Wedge, Smoked Chicken Focaccia, Pancakes with Butter and Maple Syrup and Assorted Sandwiches set; RM9.90 per set for the all-time favourite Pak Nasser’s Nasi Lemak, Uncle Chin’s Chicken Rice, Green Curry Chicken, Asian Fried Rice with Satay, Chicken Satay, Ginger Fried Rice with Vegetarian Chicken, Roast Chicken with BBQ Sauce, Spaghetti Chicken Bolognaise, Vegetarian Pulao Briyani, Bukhara Chicken Briyani. The meals were priced at RM9 and RM12 respectively before the price reduction.

The Special Meal of the Month, which features different food highlights every two months based on the various occasions in countries throughout ASEAN such as Hari Raya, Deepavali, Christmas and Chinese New Year in Malaysia, as well as Songkran festival in Thailand will also be reduced to RM13.90 per set from RM15 previously.

AirAsia also added three new items to its pre-book menu line-up with Beef Stew, Tandoori Chicken Tortilla Wrap and Mat Kelapa (fresh coconuts) to suit the appetite of the various nationalities that travel with the low-cost airline. These new items are also available for pre-booking at only RM9.90 and RM7.90 per set.

“Many guests do not know this, but there is now an option to purchase more than one meal when they pre-book it online. This would also lead to more savings for our guests, apart from a guarantee that you will have a great, tummy-filled flight. The new price range is even more affordable than a fast-food meal set, and we hope that our guests will enjoy both the new price as well as the new pre-book menu line-up,” Shireen added.

Passengers who own the BIG Card will also be rewarded with 2X BIG Points when they pre-book their meals along with their flights.

Travellers who have yet to pre-book their meals for their flights are able to do so via ‘Manage My Booking’ at the AirAsia website up to 48 hours before their scheduled flight.
