World Mountain Bike Champion Caroline Buchanan made a surprise visit to Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa in Australia last weekend to test-ride the resort's new mountain bike park.

She was so impressed with the new facility that she has agreed to become an ambassador for the Mountain Bike Pump and Flow Track has been named in her honour.

"I've had a massive year competing around the world and re-building my presence in the mountain bike world after spending the past two years focussing on BMX for the Olympics," said Caroline. "Pump tracks and skills parks are definitely becoming more popular but I've never seen a pump and flow track in a resort before."

She said the tracks offer something for all levels of riders.

"The Mountain Bike Pump and Flow track at Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa has some great features for all aspects of riding from a downhill rider wanting to practice some north shore bridges, a BMX or four-cross rider wanting to perfect their skills on the pump track to a cross county rider wanting to have a crack at everything including the flow table tops and turns down the hill."

Her favourite part of the park was the pump and flow track, which has now been named the Caroline Buchanan Pump and Flow Track.

"Pump tracks never get boring. There is always a new line or jump to be found. It's the sort of track where you can go at your own pace or push yourself for a great time against friends."

The mountain bike park at Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa is the latest free activity to open at the family-friendly resort.

Throughout January, the resort is offering a special Stay 4 Pay 3 deal with four nights accommodation for the price of three nights.

The package includes free use of resort activities including a nine-hole par-three golf course; canoes and kayaks; tennis, badminton and volleyball courts; heated indoor swimming pool, gymnasium and sauna; spring free trampolines; archery; low ropes course, 2.4 km fitness track, mountain bike skills course and 14 kms of mountain bike and walking trails.
