TOPAS, a CRS (Computerised Reservation System) company in Korea, and Amadeus, recently hosted the first Korean Travel Leaders’ Forum 2012 in Bangkok, Thailand.

The forum was attended by a group of 30 travel professionals including some of Korea’s top travel agencies as well as representatives from the senior management of TOPAS, Korean Air and Amadeus.

TOPAS CEO Mr Sun-Oh Bang, and Amadeus Asia Pacific President David Brett, shared their vision for the future while also unveiling the name for the TOPAS next generation technology platform that both companies are developing together. The new platform will be called “TOPAS Plus”.

“Korea is a fascinating travel market, with rapid growth both inbound and outbound,” said Brett. “The Korean Travel Leaders’ Forum brought together a group of senior travel professionals to discuss the challenges we are facing, and some proposed solutions using new technology. I believe the industry as a whole recognises that technology will play a pivotal role in the future of Korean travel.”

“Amadeus is very proud to have been selected as the IT partner for Korean Air to implement our Altéa Passenger Service System, as well as the technology partner for TOPAS to develop the new TOPAS Plus platform. We are very excited to see what the future holds in Korea and last week’s forum provided an excellent opportunity to hear directly from the travel agents in terms of what they need to succeed,” Brett added.

The forum covered presentations from Korean Air, who highlighted the benefits for travel agents using Amadeus’ technology as well as outlining the reasons Korean Air selected Amadeus to deliver advanced technology solutions for the benefit of their customers. Additionally, Amadeus highlighted current global travel trends and explained how technology can help travel agents to maximise their revenue.

This forum was the first of many events that TOPAS and Amadeus will hold with travel agency customers throughout the TOPAS Plus migration and beyond.
