Minor Hotel Group, a Thailand-based hotel owner, operator and investor, currently with over 80 properties across ten countries, has added a property in Phuket, Thailand, to its portfolio.

Located on Layan Beach on Phukets north west coast, just 20 minutes from Phuket International Airport, Bundarika Villas & Suites features 77 villas and suites on 400 metres of secluded beach.

In addition to the hotel, MHG has acquired 12.5 acres / 5 hectares of adjacent hillside land with panoramic views of the Andaman Sea, which it plans to develop into a high-and residential project.

Minors total investment is approximately THB 3 billion, which includes funds for a substantial refurbishment over the coming months, before the property is rebranded as Anantara Phuket Layan Resort & Spa in 2013.

Minor Hotel Group has a proven record of accomplishment in Phukets hospitality sector, as evidenced by the successful development of its two upscale hotels on Mai Khao beach, namely Anantara Phuket Villas and JW Marriott Phuket, and the Turtle Village Shopping Plaza Phuket located adjacent to the two hotels. In addition, Anantara Vacation Club Phuket is scheduled to launch at the end of 2012.

Dillip Rajakarier, CEO Minor Hotel Group, said, We are very excited to announce this new addition to Minors portfolio and what will become a second Anantara resort in Phuket. Bundarika offers guests an exclusive retreat and is ideal to be rebranded to an Anantara next year after renovation and an operational improvement programme.
