InterContinental Hotels Group has appointed Joel Eisemann as Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer for the Americas region, while Jim Anhut will assume the role of senior vice president Americas Brand Management.

Eisemann joins IHG from Marriott International where he spent nearly 29 years in several senior management roles. Most recently he served as executive vice president, Global Asset Management where he was responsible for aligning and leading the company’s efforts to maintain and enhance the stability and value of their long-term operating agreements on a global basis.

He has a vast array of experience in development for select service and extended-stay brands, global asset management, and owner and franchise relations. In his new role, Eisemann will lead the development activities for franchised and managed hotels as well as the capital investments and transactions activity across all of IHG’s brands in the Americas.

Anhut, in his new role, will lead the Americas brand management team responsible for brand delivery, property improvement, new business delivery and quality.

Anhut is a third-generation hotelier with more than 25 years of industry experience in new brand delivery, brand management along with owner relations and development. During his 15 years at IHG, he has led the launch and brand management for Hotel Indigo, where he was responsible for the overall strategic direction of IHG’s branded boutique hotel concept. He also designed, launched and managed IHG’s Staybridge Suites brand.

“I’ve known both Joel and Jim for a long time and I know how respected they are in the hospitality industry with colleagues, owners and competitors,” said Kirk Kinsell, president, the Americas, IHG. “The leadership and experience that they will bring to their positions will allow us to have greater focus on our strategic priorities including driving growth in our system and increased performance for our hotels so that we can continue the strong momentum we have in the Americas region.”

Both Eisemann and Anhut will be based in Atlanta and will be on the Regional Operating Committee for the Americas reporting directly to Kirk Kinsell.
