Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Videos Wednesday, 5 October 2011

Far East Hospitality is to refurbish and rename the newly acquired Paramount Hotel as the East Village Hotel.

Occupying a prominent location at Marine Parade and East Coast Road, the freehold property is currently configured as a 229-key hotel and a shopping arcade housing 95 shops.

The new East Village Hotel will be the latest addition to Far East Hospitalitys portfolio of Village Hotels & Residences, where each property is designed to showcase the unique flavour and cultural tapestry of the locales in which it is situated.

Its other properties include the Landmark Village Hotel, Albert Court Village Hotel, Changi Village Hotel, Central Square Village Residences, Riverside Village Residences, Hougang Village Residences and West Coast Village Residences.

Under the terms and conditions of sale, Far East Organization is expected to take official ownership of the hotel and shopping arcade in February 2012. Upgrading and refurbishment works, which will commence thereafter, are estimated to be completed by the end of 2012.

These works will take place in stages and entail amongst others, major changes to the first, second and third floors, a new club room, a renovated ballroom, new car park levels as well as modern dining concepts.

The new East Village hotel will also take on a Peranakan theme, drawing inspiration from the Peranakan heritage of the surrounding Joo Chiat and Katong districts.

During the refurbishment, the hotel will remain completely operational and plans are in place to ensure minimal impact to guests and the quality of their stay.
