China Airlines Appoints New Chairman

China Airlines has appointed Dr. Chia-Juch Chang as Chairman.

Mr. Chang has served on CAL's Board of Directors since August of 2008 and has extensive experience in business, government and academia.

After earning his Bachelor's Degree from the Department of Construction at National Cheng Kung University, Dr. Chang went on to receive a Master's Degree from the Graduate School of Construction Engineering at California State University at San Jose and a Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Transportation Engineering at Purdue University.

He returned to Taiwan to serve as a professor at National Chiao Tung University, where he became known as a transportation expert, and has previously served as President of Chung Hua University and Director-General of the Institute of Transportation.

Most people in Taiwan recognize Dr. Chang as the former Vice Minister of Transportation and Communications, a position he served in for a decade until 2005, including a period where he concurrently served as Director-General of the Civil Aeronautics Administration.

After retiring from government service, Mr. Chang served as Chief Executive Officer of the China Steel Corporation, and most recently as Vice Chairman of the China Development Financial Holding Corporation.
