Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Videos Thursday, 3 March 2011

As a sponsor of the Bali International Triathlon, Ayana Resort and Spa Bali has unveiled a customized promotion in celebration of one of the island’s most eagerly anticipated sporting events of the year.

This year’s 5th annual race will be held on 26 June in the area surrounding picturesque Jimbaran Bay. The course will consist of two distance races: an Olympic Distance Course comprising a 1.5km swim, 40km cycle and 10km flat and fast run; and a Sprint Course comprising a 500m swim, 20km cycle and 5km run. A 5km fun run and other activities will also be held, including a Balinese Hindu bicycle blessing before the race for all participants, highlighting the unique nature of this event.

Past winners of the Olympic Distance race include Australia's Luke McKenzie, a 5-time Ironman Champion, whose wife Amanda Balding finished third in the 2009 women's event.

"This race has become one of the most high-profile events on Bali's sporting calendar, and has drawn participants from around the world," said Ayana's General Manager, Charles de Foucault. "Everyone loves an excuse to come to Bali, and for triathletes, this race represents a unique opportunity to challenge themselves in a completely different environment, whilst enjoying the culture, hospitality and many attractions of this island – such as Ayana's own Thermes Marins Spa and iconic Rock Bar. We are proud to be a sponsor and look forward to seeing the event continue to grow and bring people to the Jimbaran area."

Ayana has put together a package for participating athletes and supporters, inclusive of:

• Return airport and event transfers
• Daily breakfast at the resort’s Padi Resaurant (or Dava for Villa Guests, and Club Lounge for Club-Level guests)
• Spa sessions to soothe tired muscles and stimulate post-event recovery – including 50-minute Balinese massage and a session in the Aquatonic Seawater Therapy Pool.
• Access to post-race Sunset Cocktails, to be held on the cliff lawn above Rock Bar with a selection of wine, beer, soft drinks and canapés, accompanied by live music.
• Priority service as a hotel guest at the Rock Bar.

Available for 2 or 3-night stays, rates start from US$214++ for single occupancy and US$268++ for double occupancy.
