Lufthansa Appoints Steffen Harbarth as VP Asia Pacific

Mr. Steffen Harbarth has been appointed as the new Vice President for Lufthansa in Asia Pacific, effective 1 April 2011. He will direct the airline’s regional headquarter based in Singapore.

In this new role, Mr. Harbarth will manage and direct the sales, marketing and airport operations for Lufthansa Asia Pacific. He will report to Mr. Jens Bischof, who will become a member of the Lufthansa German Airlines Board, Sales and Revenue Management, also effective 1 April 2011. 

Mr. Harbarth began his career at Lufthansa in 1996, working initially in Pricing Policy and then in Sales Development. In 1999, he moved to Paris as Head of Sales and Support Marketing for Western and Southern Europe. Two years later, he transferred to Zurich, where he was responsible for Lufthansa-sales in the Swiss market. In 2005, he returned to Frankfurt as Head of Yield Management and subsequently of Revenue Management for the long-haul markets. Most recently, he held the position of Head of Hub Development and Capacity Management at Lufthansa’s hub in Munich, Germany.

Mr. Harbarth graduated from the University of Applied Sciences in Munich with a Diploma in Business Management. He is married and has two daughters.

Mr. Harbarth succeeds Mr. Uwe Mueller who was appointed the new Head of Sales for Lufthansa’s largest markets in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Mr. Uwe Mueller has managed the airline’s sustainable growth in the region since 2003.
