South African hotelier, John Burger, has been appointed as general manager of the Hilton Guangzhou Tianhe.

Burger has transfered from the helm of DoubleTree by Hilton Huaqiao/Kunshan to oversee the new five-star hotel’s opening and future development.

With 26 years’ experience and expertise in the hospitality industry, including five hotel openings, Burger first joined Hilton Worldwide in 2002 as Director of Business Development for the opening of Hilton Chongqing.

His extensive expertise has emcompassed diverse areas of operations and management including marketing, development as well as new hotel construction and openings.

“Burger brings impressive wide-ranging experience and an illustrious track record in the hotel industry, and I am very pleased that he joined us as the general manager of Hilton Guangzhou Tianhe,” said Timothy Soper, Vice President Operations, Greater China & Mongolia. “Hilton Guangzhou Tianhe is a refreshing new addition to Guangzhou’s hotel scene – a dynamic, contemporary hotel where we do things differently. Burger will be tasked with building up a top class team at Hilton Guangzhou Tianhe to accentuate Hilton’s tradition of first class hospitality.”

Hilton Guangzhou Tianhe is in Guangzhou’s CBD, one of the fastest growing economic zones in the heart of the Pearl River Delta, conveniently located by Guangzhou East railway station and other transportation hubs, as well as the city’s shopping and entertainment districts.
