[HD video below] LAN Ecuador has commenced services to the island of San Cristobal in the Galapagos Islands.

The airline will operate two weekly flights to this new destination from Quito/Guayaquil, using Airbus A320 aircraft.

San Cristobal is the second destination served by LAN Ecuador in the Galapagos Islands, and the fifth domestic destination in Ecuador.

Since September, 2010, LAN Ecuador has been flying daily to the island of Baltra. It also serves the cities of Quito, Guayaquil and Cuenca.

Maximiliano Naranjo, General Manager of LAN Ecuador, said, “By opening this new route, the island of San Cristobal will be connected not only to mainland Ecuador, but to the world, through the different international destinations reached by LAN Airlines and its affiliates’, as well as by other airline members of the oneworld alliance.”

The modern Airbus A320 aircraft which LAN flies to the Galapagos Islands deliver significant fuel efficiency, reducing engine noise and CO2 emissions.

Approximate flight time from Guayaquil to San Cristobal is two hours, and flights operate on Wednesdays and Sundays.

From Australia and New Zealand, LAN Airlines flies daily to the South American gateway city of Santiago, Chile, with onward connections to destinations including Ecuador.
