Over the last two months, the ‘Guinness Adventures’ campaign has pitted Singapore’s most adventurous netizens against one another for the opportunity to win a once-in-a-lifetime trip for three to Mount Everest.

The campaign saw over 1,500 people take part in the Guinness Adventures challenge, forming teams of three to scale the virtual peak.

The winning team which wins the Grand Prize of an all-expense paid 14-day trip to the base camp of Mount Everest, was Team on-foot, and Mr Tan Chi Chuan, 30, accepted the grand prize on behalf of his team to celebrate the beginning of the big adventure to Mount Everest.

“The response we have received from the ‘Guinness Adventures’ campaign has been phenomenal, both in terms of the contest participation levels as well as the traction achieved via our social media platforms. In the span of just two months, our Facebook fan group grew from 218 members at the start of the campaign to over 20,000 members as of today,” said Ms Wong Mei Wai, Head of Marketing, Asia Pacific Breweries (Singapore). “We are very excited to be sending Team on-foot to Mount Everest. The teamwork and collaboration that won them the Grand Prize will now be put to the test as the team set off for the Himalayas together. They are testament that Singapore’s spirit of adventure is indeed thriving.”

In addition to the Grand Prize, Guinness also awarded prizes to teams who succeeded in reaching different ‘altitudes’ of the virtual mountain. The prizes include Sin$2,000 worth of Guinness and dining experiences at high-altitude locations such as The Sky on 57 at Marina Bay Sands, Equinox @ Swissotel and 1-Altitude by 1 Rochester Group.

Climbing Mount Everest will be no easy feat, but Team on-foot is ready and raring to go. When asked about how he felt about the win, Mr Tan Chin Chuan, said, “My friends and I are really excited to set out on this adventure. Once a month, we usually arrange outings to sail, hike or kayak together, so this opportunity to visit Mount Everest is a dream come true for us. We’re looking forward to it.”
