Kosmopolito Hotels Appoints New President

Kosmopolito Hotels International (KHI) has appointed Ms. Chiu Wing Kwan, Winnie, currently an Executive Director of KHI, as President with effect from 1 November 2011.

Commenting on the re-designation of Mr. Bill Mok as a Non-Executive Director of KHI, Tan Sri Dato’ David Chiu, the Chairman of KHI said, “I appreciate the effort and leadership of Bill during the tenure of his office as the President and an Executive Director of KHI. Bill will join Fortune Oil PLC as Chief Financial Officer with effect from 1 November 2011. My best wishes to Bill in his career development in a different line of business ... Bill will remain as a member of the Board of KHI and will continue to make his valuable contribution to KHI.”

On the new position to be taken up by Ms. Winnie Chiu, Tan Sri Dato’ David Chiu said, “Winnie has been an Executive Director of KHI since 8 June 2010 and currently is the Chief Strategy Officer of KHI. She is instrumental in corporate development and branding strategy of the group. With intimate knowledge of the group, strong business acumen and extensive experience in retail, property development and F & B, Winnie is well-equipped to lead an enthusiastic and experienced senior team as KHI moves forth in pursuing its hotel business expansion programme.”

Ms. Winnie Chiu has accumulated ten years of experience in the property development business covering various aspects of project development and retail management. In 2002, Ms. Winnie Chiu launched her career in the property development business by her appointment as a Director of Malaysia Land Properties (Mayland). Ms. Winnie Chiu joined Far East Consortium International Limited (FECIL) (a company listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange) in 2005 as a Director of property development where she had responsibility for the overall project development and oversaw the FECIL group’s hotels development in Hong Kong, the People’s Republic of China, Malaysia and Singapore.

Prior to joining Mayland and FECIL, Ms. Chiu worked in a few major international banks where she gained financial management experience. Since 17 July 2008, Ms. Chiu has been appointed as a Non-independent and Non-executive Director of Land & General Berhad, a company listed on the main market of Bursa Malaysia and is principally engaged in property development and investment in plantation, education and leisure sectors. Ms. Winnie Chiu is the founder of Freshness Burger Hong Kong, a chain of fast food shops established in Hong Kong since 2007 and a member of the board of governors of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Society Limited.

Ms. Winnie Chiu holds a BSc in Business Management, from King's College, University of London, United Kingdom.

Kattie Hoo Appointed as Director of Marketing and Communications

Kattie Hoo has been appointed as Director of Marketing and Communications with immediate effect.

Based at KHI's corporate office in Kuala Lumpur and reporting directly to the Group’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Ms. Hoo will be managing the group’s strategic marketing activities, formulating and implementing marketing plans, and developing public relations initiatives.

Ms. Hoo was previously the Director of Marketing and Communications at Sutera Harbour Resort, Kota Kinabalu. She was also the Director of Communications for Hotel Nikko Kuala Lumpur and was the Director of MarCom for Parkroyal Kuala Lumpur. Ms Hoo began her career in the hospitality industry with the Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

 KHI, set up in January 2007 and listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in October 2010, is a subsidiary of Far East Consortium International Limited (a company listed on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange).

KHI is an Asia-based hotel group with hotels located in the major cities including Shanghai, Wuhan, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Johor. Other hotels under development are located in Singapore and Chengdu.
