Justin Malcolm Joins Le Méridien Chiang Rai as GM

Le Méridien Chiang Rai has appointed Justin Malcolm as General Manager.

A veteran to the hospitality industry, Justin has accumulated a wealth of knowledge and experience over his almost 16-year career with Starwood Hotels & Resorts.

In 1995, Justin’s passion for the hospitality industry sparked at the Sheraton Sydney Airport Hotel, Australia where he held various roles before moving to the Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket, Thailand in 1998 as Assistant Manager. During his tenure there, Justin was instrumental in the successful launch of the rewards program, Starwood Preferred Guest within the resort.

He then moved back to Australia to join The Westin Sydney as a member of the pre opening team for Westin’s first hotel in the Pacific. There he held a number of key management roles in Rooms Division before being appointed as Director of Six Sigma, Black Belt. As Director of Six Sigma, he successfully introduced and launched Six Sigma into the hotel and was recognised for a number of industry leading projects, which contributed to the success of the hotel.

Upon completion of his term in Sydney, Justin then moved to The Westin Kuala Lumpur in 2006 as Director of Rooms, overseeing the operation of 384 guest rooms and 68 executive residences where he was instrumental in increasing guest satisfaction and profitability, and won awards for Excellence in Hotel Service, Best City Hotel, Hotel of the Year and Best Serviced Apartment Hotel.

Two years later, Justin was appointed Resort Manager for Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort and Spa and was responsible for the complete conversion and renovation of Sheraton’s first luxury resort in the Maldives. During his time in Maldives Starwood awarded him as the most Inspiring Leader of the Year in 2009.

A community supporter Justin was also an active volunteer member of the NSW State Emergency Service for 11 years, coordinating a number of major emergencies as the area’s Deputy Controller and Emergency Operations Manager.

Justin holds a Diploma in Business (Frontline Management) from one of Australia’s leading institutions and has been awarded various certifications including a Certificate of Merit from the NSW Police Service for preservation of life.
